Founder and Director of Seashell Music Together, Virginia is so delighted to be part of the fabulous Music Together® team! Trained under the co-founder of Music Together, Lili M. Levinowitz, Ph.D., Virginia spent her childhood as part of a music family in Caracas, Venezuela. She holds both a Bachelor and Masters of Music degree in Piano Performance and has been teaching music individually and in group settings since 1995. She moved to the Seattle area in 2005 and fell in love with the Music Together curriculum when she started bringing her own kids to classes. Having performed as a soloist and in group concerts, she is thrilled to have the opportunity to bring the Music Together Curriculum to the Eastside Seattle area, and to be working hands on with the people she loves best.... kids! She lives in Sammamish with her husband and their three kids.
"Miss Cece" is thrilled to be joining the Seashell Music Together family under the direction of Virginia Navarro. Cece's love of music began while growing up in France, surrounded by old French folk songs, accordion music and Edith Piaf tunes, as well as the United States, surrounded by campfire songs, Duke Ellington and musical theatre. Cece received her Bachelor of Music degree in Music Business and Voice from James Madison University in Virginia., and has worn many musical hats since then: actor/singer/dancer in regional and international musical theatre productions; radio dj and rock 'n roll band member; adult and childrens' choir director; as well as teaching, coaching, and directing music and movement classes in individual, school and group settings since 1988. After living in Virginia, Florida, the Carribean, Texas, and now Washington, Cece loves that Music Together is a blend of the world menu of music, songs and movement that she acquired after calling many places home. She is so excited to help Music Together's curriculum expand on the Eastside so that more families can expand their own tastebuds and get back to the joy of making music. Cece especially loves making music with her guitar-toting husband, Rob, and her three music-loving children. Now let's all sing and dance... together!!!
My passion for music and singing goes back as far as I could speak. I grew up in a very musical environment thanks to my mom and have been part of choirs both in school and in church all my life. I received vocal training in a private music studio back in my home country, Honduras. Where I also recorded background vocals for an album.
My husband and I moved to this country back in 2007 and lived in Rochester, New York for two years. His job moved us across the country with our, then, 9 month old twins to this gorgeous State. We have lived in the Seattle area with our three boys for 7 years now and it truly feels like home.
I have a degree in Architecture which I thoroughly enjoyed before choosing to stay home with my kids. My love for all arts and children has led me to volunteer as an art teacher in my kids’ school and a Faith Formation catechist in church.
I became a Music Together teacher after coming to classes with my youngest child and loving what this program offers in music development for families. Although my twins didn’t have the opportunity to participate in this program, they too have been able to enjoy the fruits of it from what their brother and I bring home from class.
I am excited to be joining Ms. Vivi and this amazing program. I am very grateful for the opportunity to share with your little ones a joy that seeps through my pores, which is the love of making music.
Marissa is very excited to join Seashell Music Together’s team! Marissa’s passion for the performing arts and music started when her parents began playing music for her in utero. She grew up singing many songs with her family and loved performing on picnic tables for anyone who would listen. She continued enjoying music throughout her Montessori education. In high school, Marissa had the opportunity to attend Seattle Academy of Arts and Sciences where she filled every free moment with vocal classes, musicals, and advanced performing arts classes. In college, she focused on techniques for supporting children with special needs and graduated with a major in psychology and a double minor in education and biology, before earning her Early Childhood (EC) Montessori credential.
It was during her yearlong EC internship at the Woodinville Montessori School that she experienced and participated in a Music Together® class on a weekly basis. Inspired, she continued to practice Music Together songs as a lead Montessori teacher and later went on to earn her own Music Together Certification. Later, as a director of a small Montessori school, she continued singing Music Together songs, and discovered that families absolutely loved the opportunity to make music with their kiddos. “I truly believe Music Together brings the perfect mix of cutting edge research guided curriculum and true love of the craft to fruition in a dynamic, and empowering way.”
Marissa hopes her work not only instills confidence and appreciation for many forms of music to children (and their parents), but also that community connections are fostered, and students grow to embrace an appreciative cultural perspective: a sense of global citizenship.
